How it works
After surgery, gentle and correctly-timed massage can support your comfort while the treated area settles. Every body and every procedure heals differently, which is why your sessions are planned individually after an assessment with our massage therapist.
Sessions are 45 minutes and adapted to your healing stage each visit.
When to start — and why clearance matters
Timing is decided by your surgeon, not by us. Depending on the procedure, treatment usually begins somewhere between one and three weeks post-operatively, and we need your treating surgeon or doctor to confirm you are ready before your first appointment. Please bring that clearance with you.
We do not treat over unhealed or open incisions, active infection, unexplained swelling or heat in a limb, or where there is any concern about a blood clot. If something does not look right to us, we will stop and send you back to your surgeon — that is the correct outcome, not a wasted appointment.
What the sessions do, and how many
The work is gentle and lymphatic rather than deep. The aim is to help move post-operative fluid, support comfort, and work carefully around healing scar tissue as it matures — not to reshape a surgical result.
Most people are booked more frequently in the early weeks, then taper as swelling settles. Recovery is individual and depends on the procedure and on you, so the plan is reviewed as you go rather than sold as a fixed package up front. Individual results vary.
Between sessions, follow your surgeon’s instructions on compression garments, movement and activity ahead of anything we suggest.
