Your 45-minute session combines two therapies: relaxing massage to warm and loosen the muscles, and cupping to reach the deeper tension that hands alone can miss.
Cups are placed on key areas of tightness and create a gentle suction. The sensation is unusual at first — most clients settle into it quickly and find the combination deeply releasing.
Who it suits — and who it does not
Cupping suits broad, stubborn tightness across the back and shoulders, and people who like the deep decompressing sensation it gives — it lifts tissue rather than pressing into it, which is a different feeling from any other massage we offer.
It is not suitable if you bruise very easily, take blood-thinning medication, are pregnant, or have fragile or thin skin. We also avoid it over active infection, inflamed skin, recent injury, moles or broken skin. Anyone with a bleeding disorder or uncontrolled circulatory condition should check with their doctor first.
How often, and what to plan around
Most people book cupping as part of a broader massage plan rather than on its own, spaced two to four weeks apart. It combines naturally with remedial work in the same session.
Worth planning around the marks: they are not bruises in the injury sense, but they are visible and can last several days to a fortnight. If you have a wedding, a beach weekend or anything backless coming up, book with that in mind. Individual results vary.

Do the marks mean it worked?
Not really — the depth of colour reflects your skin and circulation more than the effectiveness of the session. They are not something to chase.
Can I have cupping with a regular massage?
Yes, and that is how most people have it. Cupping over an area and then hands-on work through the same region tends to be more useful than either on its own.
