Areas we treat
How it works & what to expect
Laser and IPL hair removal deliver targeted light energy into the hair follicle for long-lasting smooth skin. Because hair grows in cycles, a series of sessions is required for the best results. Suitable for various skin types — confirmed at your patch test.
Sessions are quick: small areas take minutes. Skin may look lightly flushed for a few hours afterwards.
Safety first: consultation + patch test
For any laser treatment offered in clinic, we first require a consultation and a patch test in the treatment area. This ensures laser is safe for your skin type (Fitzpatrick scale) and determines the wavelength we start your treatment from.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including fake tan) before your patch test and between sessions, and shave — never wax or pluck — between treatments.
Who it suits — and who it does not
Laser and IPL target the pigment in the hair, so treatment works best where there is good contrast between dark hair and lighter surrounding skin. Coarse, dark hair on the underarms, legs, face and bikini line usually responds most predictably.
Where it works less well is worth saying plainly: grey, white, red and very fine blonde hair contain little or no pigment for the light to find, and no number of sessions changes that. Deeply pigmented skin needs the right device and settings rather than a blanket approach, which is one of the things a patch test establishes.
It is also not appropriate over recently tanned skin, during pregnancy, alongside some medications that increase light sensitivity, or on areas with active infection. Hormonal conditions such as PCOS can drive new growth independently of treatment, so results are maintained rather than permanent, and individual results vary.
Aftercare and how many sessions
Most areas need a course spaced several weeks apart, because a session only affects follicles that are actively growing at that moment. Missing an appointment does not undo progress, but it does stretch the course out.
Between visits, shave rather than wax, pluck or thread — the follicle needs to still be there for the next session to work. Expect treated hairs to shed over the following one to three weeks; it often looks like regrowth and usually is not.
Daily SPF50+ on any exposed treated area matters more here than most people expect, because treated skin pigments more readily after sun exposure. Our guide to laser hair removal aftercare covers the first 24 hours and the fortnight after.

Who treats you

“The patch test isn't red tape — it's how we choose the exact wavelength that's safe and effective for your skin.”
More about the clinic →Your first appointment is a consultation, not a treatment: a dedicated 1:1 assessment with our Registered Nurse. You leave with a personalised plan, and there is no obligation to proceed.
Good to know
Does it work on blonde, grey or red hair?
Generally not. The light finds the pigment in the hair, and hair without pigment gives it nothing to target. We would rather tell you at consultation that your hair colour is unlikely to respond than sell you a course.
Is it permanent?
The accurate term is permanent hair reduction rather than removal. Treated follicles are disabled, but hormones can prompt new follicles to become active over time, so occasional maintenance sessions are common. Individual results vary.
Why do I need a consultation and patch test first?
Every laser treatment at our clinic starts with a consultation and a patch test in the area. This confirms laser is safe for your skin type (Fitzpatrick), and tells us exactly which wavelength to start your treatment from — safety first, always.
How much does it cost?
Areas start from $60 per session. Your full per-area price list is confirmed at your consultation and patch test, so you know exactly what your plan costs before you commit.
How many sessions will I need?
Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions are typically required for the best long-lasting results — most clients need a series spaced several weeks apart, mapped out at consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe it as a quick warm flick, like a small rubber-band snap. Sensitive areas feel it more, but sessions are fast.
What do I need to do before a session?
Shave the area within 24 hours before your appointment, avoid waxing and plucking between sessions, and avoid tanning (including fake tan) before treatment. We confirm the full prep list at your consultation.
