How it works & what to expect

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a natural therapy based on harnessing the healing powers of our body’s own cell components, using autologous platelets and plasma. It may help improve skin quality and the appearance of the skin in relation to concerns such as pigmentation, fine lines, skin laxity and scarring. Individual results vary.

Platelet rich plasma is prepared by taking a small sample of the patient’s blood. The sample is then spun in a centrifuge, separating it into plasma, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells. The platelet rich plasma is collected from the upper part of the tube and injected — with a small needle or cannula — into the treatment site to promote healing and support skin quality.

For several years it has been successfully used in numerous skin-care applications, including alopecia, scar revision and acne scars.

Risks & who it's not for

It is normal to experience some redness and swelling after the treatment — this is the body’s natural response. You may also experience some mild bruising on the area treated. As with any procedure there are potential risks and side effects; suitability depends on your health history, which is assessed at consultation.

When will I see results?

Typically, first results may be visible around 2 weeks after treatment and further results around 4 months after, as platelets release growth factors that assist in collagen regeneration. Over time, the skin may appear fresher. Individual results vary.

Pricing

PRP treatment from $400 per session:

  • Under the eye (uses 1 blood tube)
  • Scalp to treat hair loss (uses 3 blood tubes)
  • Acne scars (uses 2–3 blood tubes)

*Treatment price depends on which areas are treated and how many blood tubes are required.

PRP can also be combined with skin needling — often called the “Vampire Facial” — for skin-quality concerns. The combination and pricing are confirmed at your consultation.

Good to know

What is PRP therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma therapy uses a small sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate the platelets, which is then reintroduced to the treatment area to support skin quality.

How many sessions will I need?

A course of sessions spaced several weeks apart is typical. Your personalised plan is confirmed at your consultation, and results vary between individuals.

Is there any downtime?

Temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the treatment area is possible and usually settles over a few days. Your practitioner will take you through aftercare.

Who is PRP suitable for?

Because PRP is prepared from your own sample, many clients choose it as a regenerative option — but suitability still depends on your health history, which is assessed at consultation.

What are the risks?

As with any procedure there are potential risks and side effects, and results vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss these openly at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
