Muscle-relaxing treatment for expression lines
Muscle-relaxing treatments are a non-surgical option that may help soften the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles. Where a practitioner assesses it to be appropriate for you, a prescribed treatment can be used to gently relax the specific facial muscles that create dynamic lines. Suitability, options and what to expect are discussed at your individual consultation.
Treatment time, once consultation has been performed and deemed suitable for patient: 30–45 mins.

How it works
The treatment works by temporarily relaxing the specific muscles that contract to create dynamic lines. By easing that muscle activity in the treated area, the overlying skin can appear smoother and more relaxed. Your practitioner will explain the approach in detail at consultation.
How long does it last?
Temporary effect: results are temporary, typically lasting 3 to 4 months, after which muscle activity gradually returns. Maintenance treatments are required for long-term benefits. Factors such as metabolism, lifestyle, exercise regimen and certain health conditions will affect the longevity of the treatment. Usually the treatment has an 8-week maximum peak of effect, and then it gradually starts to wear off.
Risks and considerations
As with any medical procedure, this treatment carries risks and is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects include redness or bruising at the treated point, pain, firmness, swelling, itching, lumps, bumps or discolouration, or a mild headache — these usually subside within a few days. Less commonly, outcomes such as asymmetry, drooping eyelids or an over-relaxed appearance can occur. This is why treatment should only be provided by a qualified, registered practitioner following an individual assessment. Your practitioner will discuss the full range of risks with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this treatment is right for me?
Every treatment starts with an individual consultation. Our registered practitioner assesses your concerns, medical history and suitability before any treatment plan is recommended — with no obligation to proceed.
How much does it cost?
Australian advertising rules do not allow prices for prescription-only treatments to be published. Pricing is provided at your consultation once your practitioner has assessed what is suitable for you.
Is there any downtime?
Most clients return to their normal day straight away. Temporary redness, small marks or mild swelling at the treatment area can occur and usually settle quickly — your practitioner will explain aftercare in detail.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Results typically develop gradually over the days following treatment, and how long they last varies between individuals. A follow-up appointment is recommended to review your results.
What are the risks?
As with any procedure there are potential risks and side effects, and results vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss these openly at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
