How it works & what to expect

The treatment works by temporarily relaxing the specific muscles that contract to create dynamic lines. By easing that muscle activity in the treated area, the overlying skin can appear smoother and more relaxed. Your practitioner will explain the approach in detail at consultation.

Results are temporary and maintenance treatments are required for long-term benefits. How long results last varies between individuals — factors such as metabolism, lifestyle and certain health conditions all play a part. Your practitioner will discuss what to expect, including realistic timeframes, at your consultation.

Risks & who it's not for

As with any medical procedure, this treatment carries risks and is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects include redness or bruising at the treated point, pain, firmness, swelling, itching, lumps, bumps or discolouration, or a mild headache — these usually subside within a few days. Less commonly, outcomes such as asymmetry, drooping eyelids or an over-relaxed appearance can occur. Your practitioner will discuss the full range of risks with you.

Not recommended for anyone who:

  • Has Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton-Lambert Syndrome
  • Is hypersensitive to any of the treatment ingredients
  • Currently has an active infection in the area to be injected
  • Is under investigation with a GP for any health issues
  • Is pregnant, breastfeeding or intending to fall pregnant soon

Advise your registered practitioner if you:

  • Have an auto-immune disorder
  • Are regularly taking anticoagulation therapy (i.e. Warfarin, Heparin)
  • Have a severe metabolic or systemic disorder
  • Have active sunburn, eczema or psoriasis
  • Are currently taking antibiotics
  • Are under 18 years of age

Packages

Treatment plans are structured simply around how many areas you and your practitioner agree to treat:

  • Single area — one treatment area
  • Silver package — two areas
  • Gold package — three areas

A preventative option is also available for younger clients where clinically appropriate. As with all prescription-only treatments in Australia, package pricing is provided at your consultation.

Before your appointment

  • Avoid blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Ginkgo Biloba and fish oil one week prior to treatment
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Have a meal and increase your water intake

Aftercare & follow-up

  • Avoid touching the treated areas for 4–6 hours
  • Keep your head upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment
  • Avoid pressure treatments such as massage, facials, waxing and micro-pigmentation in the area for 2 weeks
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and heat (e.g. saunas, LED) for 24 hours
  • Avoid applying makeup and skincare for at least 4 hours

A follow-up appointment is recommended 2 weeks after the treatment as we would like to ensure optimum results have been achieved. During the follow-up appointment, pictures are taken to compare results with the before pictures. We also book your next appointment in 3–4 months’ time, if deemed suitable, so you can maintain your results.

Your first appointment is a consultation, not a treatment: a dedicated 1:1 assessment with our Registered Nurse. You leave with a personalised plan, and there is no obligation to proceed.

Good to know

How do I know if this treatment is right for me?

Every treatment starts with an individual consultation. Our registered practitioner assesses your concerns, medical history and suitability before any treatment plan is recommended — with no obligation to proceed.

How much does it cost?

Australian advertising rules do not allow prices for prescription-only treatments to be published. Pricing is provided at your consultation once your practitioner has assessed what is suitable for you.

Is there any downtime?

Most clients return to their normal day straight away. Temporary redness, small marks or mild swelling at the treatment area can occur and usually settle quickly — your practitioner will explain aftercare in detail.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Results typically develop gradually over the days following treatment, and how long they last varies between individuals. A follow-up appointment is recommended to review your results.

What are the risks?

As with any procedure there are potential risks and side effects, and results vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss these openly at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
