Definition + balance, planned individually

A defined jawline and balanced chin frame the whole face — and the right plan is different for every person. At your consultation we assess your facial structure and side profile, discuss what you want to achieve, and design a conservative plan that enhances rather than changes you.

Suitable for women and men — masculine contouring follows the same consultation-first approach, planned around masculine facial structure. Individual results vary.

Who it suits — and who it does not

This suits people whose concern is definition and balance rather than volume for its own sake: a jawline that has softened, a chin that sits back relative to the rest of the profile, or asymmetry that has always bothered them. It often does more for how a face photographs than people expect, because the jawline is what gives a face its outline.

It is not a treatment for loose or excess skin, and it is not a substitute for surgery. If skin laxity is the main issue, a tightening treatment or a surgical opinion is the honest recommendation, and we will give it. It is also not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over an active skin infection in the area, or where there is an untreated condition affecting healing.

Where someone is asking for a result their underlying bone structure will not support, we say so at the consultation rather than after.

How we assess facial balance

Assessment is done on the whole face, not the jawline in isolation. We look at your profile as well as straight on, because a chin that looks small from the front is often a projection issue only visible from the side.

We consider the relationship between chin, lips and nose in profile, the definition of the jaw border from the chin to the angle, how the area behaves when you talk and smile, and the symmetry of the two sides — almost nobody is symmetrical, and chasing perfect symmetry usually looks worse than respecting it.

We also take a full medical history and discuss anything you have had done before, since previous treatment in the area changes the plan. You leave with a written plan and your individual pricing. In-clinic consultations are $70, with no obligation to proceed.

Recovery and aftercare

Expect some swelling and tenderness for the first two to three days, and the possibility of bruising along the jaw border. Most people are comfortable in public within a day or two, but plan a clear fortnight before any event you care about.

For the first 24 hours avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and very hot showers or saunas. Sleep with your head slightly elevated for the first night. Avoid firm pressure on the area — including resting your chin on your hand, which is a harder habit to break than it sounds.

Contact us promptly rather than waiting if pain increases instead of settling, if you notice blanching, dusky or mottled skin, or any change in vision. These are uncommon, and they are exactly what your direct contact details are for.

Why we may recommend something else

A softening jawline has more than one cause, and contouring only addresses some of them. Where the underlying issue is skin laxity, HIFU skin tightening or radiofrequency may be the better starting point. Where fullness under the chin is the concern, that is assessed separately again.

Often the honest answer is a combination, sequenced over months rather than everything at one appointment. We would rather build a plan you understand than sell the treatment you walked in naming. Individual results vary in every case.

Questions worth asking any clinic

Whether or not you come to us, these are worth asking anywhere:

  1. Who will perform the treatment, what are their qualifications, and are they registered with Ahpra?
  2. Who is the prescriber, and have they personally assessed you?
  3. What happens if there is a complication — who do you call after hours, and can they manage it?
  4. Were the risks explained, including the rare serious ones, before you were asked to pay?
  5. Is a review appointment included?

Straight answers to all five are a reasonable sign. A price quoted before anyone has assessed your face is not.

What to expect on the day

Some temporary swelling, tenderness or bruising in the treated area is common and settles over the following days. You leave with full aftercare guidance, and we are available for any questions while you settle.

Good to know

Will it change how I look from the side?

Profile is often where the difference is most noticeable, which is why we assess from the side as well as the front. We will show you what we are looking at during the consultation so the plan makes sense to you.

Is this the same as treating a double chin?

No — fullness under the chin is a separate concern, assessed separately, and sometimes better addressed another way. Your consultation covers which is actually driving what is bothering you.

How soon can I judge the result?

Allow two to four weeks for swelling to settle before assessing it properly, and expect a review appointment in that window. Individual results vary.

What does jawline and chin contouring involve?

Treatment planned around your facial structure to enhance definition and balance — a sharper-looking jawline, a more defined chin, or a more harmonious side profile. Your individual plan is built at consultation.

Will it look natural?

Our approach is conservative: definition and harmony, not an obviously "done" look. We plan around your existing features and proportions — for women and men.

How much does it cost?

Australian advertising rules do not allow prices for prescription-only treatments to be published. Your individual pricing is provided at your $70 consultation, before you decide anything.

How long do results last?

Longevity varies between individuals and depends on the treatment plan — this is discussed honestly at your consultation.

What are the risks?

As with any medical procedure there are risks, including swelling, bruising, asymmetry and — rarely — more serious complications. These are explained at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
