Loss of Skin Laxity Concern

As we age, the skin gradually loses firmness and elasticity, which can lead to sagging and loss of contour. Collagen-stimulating and skin-firming treatments aim to support the skin's own renewal to help improve the appearance of firmness over time. Options are discussed and assessed individually at consultation.

How it works & what to expect

As firmness declines, collagen-stimulating and skin-firming treatments work by supporting the activity of fibroblasts — the cells that produce collagen fibres. Rather than simply adding volume, the aim is to encourage the skin’s own renewal to help improve the appearance of firmness and contour over time.

More collagen in the skin means firmer, less saggy skin. Biostimulators trigger the body’s own collagen production, gradually improving firmness, texture and contour for a natural, long-lasting result.

Effects are gradual and lasting, as the body continues to produce collagen for up to 6 months after treatment. Effects are seen within 4–6 weeks after the first session, with the final result after 3 months. Sessions are repeated every 30–45 days, with 1 to 3 sessions in total.

Your practitioner assesses the areas of concern and tailors the approach to your individual needs. Where suitable, treatment is carried out using a cannula rather than a needle, which may cause only mild discomfort.

Treatment options

  • Collagen-stimulating treatment
  • Skin-firming treatment

*A facial assessment is required to confirm suitability and recommended sessions.

Aftercare & follow-up

  • It is a must: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days to reduce swelling, prevent nodules and disperse the product evenly
  • Avoid: facial treatments such as laser and chemical peels for 2 weeks post-treatment
  • Care: apply a cool compress to reduce swelling around the treated area

A follow-up appointment is recommended to ensure you are happy with the results and that optimum results have been achieved. During the follow-up, we take pictures to compare with the before pictures. We also re-book your next appointment 6–8 weeks from your first session, as per treatment protocol, so you can maintain and achieve optimum results.

Good to know

What can be done about loss of firmness?

Several collagen-stimulating and skin-firming options exist, and the right one depends on your skin, the treatment area and your goals — all assessed at an individual consultation.

When will I see results?

Collagen-stimulating treatments work gradually: changes typically appear over weeks to months as your skin responds, and outcomes vary between individuals.

How much does it cost?

Australian advertising rules do not allow prices for prescription-only treatments to be published. Pricing is provided at your consultation once your practitioner has assessed what is suitable for you.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the treatment selected and your individual response. Your practitioner confirms a personalised plan, including session spacing, at your consultation.

What are the risks?

As with any procedure there are potential risks and side effects, and results vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss these openly at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
